About Top Energy is the electricity generation and lines network company serving 30,000 electricity consumers in the Mid and Far North of New Zealand. Story Top Energy is owned by the electricity consumers of the Mid and Far North. The company's shares are held on their behalf by the Top Energy Consumer Trust. We are a major contributor to the community’s financial well-being, managing assets of over $300 million and employing over 200 staff. By paying salaries and wages and buying goods and services from local businesses, the company pumps nearly $10 million into the local economy each year. In addition, we pay out more than $5 million each year to local electricity consumers through a Lines Charge Discount or a dividend.
