About Vision - Enabling homeless women to find a place to call home Mission - Providing up to 3 months transition accommodation and services assisting homeless Story Women are accepted on referral by other social services including Maori Women's Refuge, Rape Crises, DCM, Soup Kitchen, Kahungunu Whanau Services, Te Whare Marie, Salvation Army, amongst others. These women are in a vulnerable position, have nowhere to call home and need support and time to make a difference to their lives. The Wellington Homeless Women's Trust is a group of volunteers who make a difference by supporting homeless women in Central Wellington. The Trust provides up to 3 months safe secure accommodation with personal support and advocacy for homeless women who wish to re-establish themselves. The Trust works in collaboration with other social services to access services (health, counseling, income support) and works with women to assist them move into long term sustainable housing options."Our vision is to reduce and avoid homelessness in the Wellington region by offering wāhine the support they need to change their situation.Our mission is to provide wāhine transitional accommodation with the aim of finding suitable and affordable housing for tenants so they can become independent.We provide a range of services to holistically support wāhine to get back on their feet. Women who are referred to our sanctuary often struggle with historical trauma and complex issues, and have nowhere to call home. They come to us needing hands-on support and a safe environment to rebuild their lives."
