Promoters are paying too much and ceding too much control – and are either relying on complex rebates and royalties to mitigate the high costs or simply passing those costs on the patron. Patrons are unhappy at the high level of booking and delivery fees that can sometimes add another 25% or more to the cost of going to a low cost event. Venues are unhappy at the lack of information and influence over the events they provide a home to. The Internet was supposed to reduce costs but instead the process of booking a ticket online has been developed to suit the ticketing company and their legacy systems rather than using the power of the Internet to transform the industry.
