Story Official Page Of the New Plymouth Iaido Association. Iaido is the oldest form of authentic Japanese martial art, developed over 400 years ago. It's an art of drawing and striking with a Japanese sword called an Iaito or a practice sword to dispatch an opponent. Training is done in the form of kata which are fixed forms used to defeat the opponent in different scenarios. We practise Zen Ken Seitei Iaido and Koryu (old style) - Muso Shinden Ryu Iai Omori Ryu (Shoden) under the guidance of AKL Iaido Club. We train Tuesdays and Fridays 6pm till 7.30pm
