About High Quality Early Childhood Education Story Whakakitenga – Our Vision We are leaders in and strong advocates for quality early childhood education, accessible to every child. Te Uaratanga – Our Mission We provide quality teaching in a welcoming and innovative learning environment for children, in partnership with whānau, reflecting Titahi Bay‟s diverse communities. Te Kaupapa – Our Philosophy We believe children learn through play and exploration. We provide a learning environment planned and resourced to support and extend children‟s learning. We are a 100% qualified and fully registered teaching team. We regularly attend Professional Development to support and extend our teaching practices. We are a community based and focused service. We prioritise developing reciprocal partnerships with whānau. We offer affordable early childhood education. We offer accessible early childhood education. We are a kindergarten that provides quality early childhood education. We have two groups of tamariki/children who attend our kindergarten. On Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30am to 2:30pm our younger group attends. This group is called the “Rereroa” group and the children in this group are predominantly three years old. Our other group of tamariki attend kindergarten on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, also from 8:30am to 2:30pm. This group is called our “Awarua” group and the children in this group are predominantly four years old. We have named our groups of children after the name of the taniwha and the albatross in the local story of how Te Mana o Kupe (Mana Island) came to be flat. Awarua is the taniwha, and Rereroa is the albatross, the taniwha‟s friend, in this story."Our kindergarten takes a place-based approach to learning, strengthening our connection to the land, people and stories of this area."
