About Independent Presbyterian Girls' School Story Located in Thorndon since its foundation in 1919 as an independent girls’ school, Queen Margaret College provides continuity in education from Pre-School to Year 13. An international perspective is fostered through a high-quality global curriculum and language- centred exchange opportunities. The College is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School authorised to teach the IB Diploma and IB Primary Years’ Programme. It is a Candidate school for the IB Middle Years’ Programme. We are proud to also be a laptop school, which has seen all Years 6, 7 and 8 girls begin the year with personal laptops. All subjects are taught by specialist teachers in the Middle School (Years 7 to 10). There is a wide range of sports on offer, catering for all individuals and abilities, a strong performing and visual arts programme and an extensive EOTC programme to foster resilience.
