"Pop-up Globe is the world's first full-scale, temporary, working replica of Shakespeare's theatre, the second Globe. Originally opened in 2016 as a one-off to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death, it proved so popular and successful that it became a semi-permanent fixture in Auckland, and has since toured to Sydney and Melbourne, playing to over 550,000 people in 30 months. Pop-up Globe is both a theatre and a production company, making all of their productions at their headquarters in Ellerslie, including wardrobe, scenic workshops and a permanent artistic and administrative staff. Pop-up Globe has won multiple awards both in New Zealand and abroad, and is regarded as one of the most successful new theatre ventures ever."
