About Claphams National Clock Museum Story When Archibald Clapham, in the country town of Yarm in Yorkshire, received a music box for his 7th birthday back in 1889, no one could have known it would be the start of a weird and wonderful museum on the other side of the World. Archie’s passion for clocks and music boxes followed him to his new homeland and as his interest grew, so did the public interest. Archie’s collection became known all over the World and he enjoyed showing people his hundreds of clocks and music boxes in his own home. When Archie died in 1963, he had made sure the collection would live on, and since then, it has been on public display in his hometown of Whangarei. It is now not only Archie’s clocks, but many hundreds of others have been added to the collection. If you think for a minute that clocks are just clocks, and a clock museum sounds a bit dusty and boring...you have not seen Claphams Clock Museum! It happens every time…a nice couple from say Australia will drift into the Clock Museum, looking slightly bemused, and they have this look on their face “ is this really going to be much fun”…an hour or so later they come out beaming saying “ I havn’t had such a laugh since Roger ran the tractor over his foot!” Impressum This site is the official Facebook page for Claphams National Clock Museum in Whangarei -NZ.
