Story Open for visitors on the first Sunday of every month and every Sunday during January and February. Athenree Homestead is a unique homestead which is being gradually restored to its former glory. Built in 1878 by Hugh & Adela Stewart, it is the only homestead of its kind left in the area which was a part of the only planned Irish settlement in the world. Athenree Homestead will be a living historic building and garden park reflecting the cultural heritage and pioneering foundations of the Katikati/Athenree/Waihi area.
