About Bowentown Boating and Sport Fishing Club Story The clubhouse nestles in a pristine and unspoiled location inside Bowentown Heads, opposite the north end of Matakana Island, Bay of Plenty New Zealand. Only 30 kilometres of shore is Mayor Island, famous for the migratory game fish which abound along the coast during the summer months. The inner harbour provides some of the best fishing on the coast. A very short walk brings you to Waihi Beach, one of the finest surf beaches on the east coast of New Zealand. The club was formed in 1963 and now has more than 1000 members.
