About New Plymouth ITU Triathlon World Cup, New Zealands only World Cup Triathlon event, is based at Ngamotu Beach with the stunning backdrop of Mt Taranaki and Paritutu Rock. Story New Plymouth has hosted a total of seven ITU World Cups with Terry Sheldrake at the helm. In June 2017 Terry handed the Event Director reigns over to Shanelle Barrett who will manage the event from 2018 onwards. The New Pymouth event, based at Ngamotu Beach, is highly rated by athletes and is embraced by the local community. Athletes get a taste of kiwiana from the Maori welcome to the numerous hometsays.
