Stewart Island is located at the southern tip of New Zealand, just one hour's ferry ride from Bluff, and is New Zealand's ultimate eco-tourism destination.

The Maori name is Rakiura- "land of the glowing skies".  Most of the island is part of the Rakiura National Park and human settlement is largely confined to the small township of Oban.

Stewart Island is a natural refuge for marine and birdlife.  Stewart Island Experience operates the ferry, a selection of cruises, tours and rental services including mountain bikes, motor scooters and cars - so that you can get be best from your day or extended stay on Stewart Island.
