About The second book of the series Whispers of the Past by Owen Cough Story Synopsis of Shadows of the Mind. The continuing story of Whispers of the Past. Samuel McIness aka Mack, head shot and wounded badly in the attack of Auckland in 1863, comes to on HMS Esk heading to Scotland via Sydney Australia.
