About Everything you need to know about renting in New Zealand. Story Tenancy Services is a part of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), a New Zealand government department. Tenancy Services: • provides guidance on tenancy-related matters under the Residential Tenancies Act (the Act) • holds tenancy bonds in trust until the end of a tenancy • provides mediation services for tenants and landlords • works with the Ministry of Justice to schedule Tenancy Tribunal hearings • monitors and enforces compliance with the Act. It covers what you need to know at every stage of the tenancy process, including starting a tenancy, maintenance and inspections, and ending a tenancy. If you're a landlord or tenant and have a dispute that you can't sort out together, Tenancy Services can arrange mediation to help resolve your issue.
