About Tramping activities organised by "Nga-Tapuwae o Taneatua Tramping Club" cover much of the Bay of Plenty, especially the eastern part. The club's name means "The footsteps of Taneatua". Taneatua was an early Maori explorer of the area. Story The club came into being beside the stream at Tawhana in 1968. Members come from all parts of the Eastern Bay of Plenty. The club name means " the footsteps of Taneatua". Taneatua was a great explorer of Te Urewera, one of the most beautiful national park in New Zealand. The 2018 subscription is $25 per year per single person or family. Subscriptions are payable in January each year.
