About During the 26 years of its existence, the Society has fundraised for and purchased a host of medical equipment and patient comfort items. Story The redevelopment of Taupo Hospital was included with Lakes District Health Board business case approved by the Minister of Health in 2008 at a cost of $12.9 million. There is a shortfall in funds of $1.3 million; the Society has accumulated funds over the last 20 years and is able to contribute $750,000 and is appealing a further $550,000 from the Taupo District business community and the public. The appeal fund will be used specifically for the refurbishment of the the In-Patient ward. The full redevelopment will provide the residents of the Taupo District with first class health facilities.
