About Sawmill is an independent, New Zealand owned brewery run by a small and talented team. Story The Brewery was established in 2004 on the site of what was once the Leigh Sawmill, a timber mill operating since the 1860’s. Our brewing is underpinned by this heritage of craftsmanship and tenacity. We appreciate our place. This raw landscape has a bearing on everything we do and people here are resourceful, creative and hardworking. Our brewery, while beautiful, is bursting at the seams so we are working on new premises. It means a great deal to us to be able to open our doors and create a place for conversation, community, food and drink. Keep in touch. Our brewing is underpinned by this heritage of craftsmanship and tenacity.In July 2016 we opened the doors to the Smoko Room, a place in the brewery to visit for generous hospitality, food with gumption, 14 beers on tap and a drinks list that showcases organic wines and the best New Zealand producers. We also offer our full range of beer to takeaway as well as flagon fills."
