Story Welcome to 73 Hire where Time is Everything! We are locally owned and operated and we specialise in the hire of plant and equipment with a wide range to suit most country living and working needs. Our equipment is new or near new. Locally owned by Les and Cath Barnett, 73 Hire is based at 26 Horndon St, Darfield and has a wide range of equipment available for hire ranging from trailered equipment such as excavators and tractors; equipment for paddock and garden maintenance; to prepare wood for winter, to cater for large country parties; access water or high, hard to reach places; clean carpets, prepare or break concrete and much more. Our mission is where time is everything!! Hence we are located locally, have a wide range of equipment available, have well maintained and serviced equipment, provide honest advice to ensure the equipment is matched correctly to the job required and we are innovative looking for safe and time-saving devices. Les has lived in the district for twenty plus years, owning a chemical application business for eighteen of those, before selling it. He was then employed as a Project Manager for a North Island company - based initially in the South with the position eventually moving to a Wellington base a year later. During this time, Les remained domiciled in Springfield, commuting between work and home each week. He has now settled back in Springfield on a permanent basis. Cath has been living in the Malvern district for seven years, after moving here from Christchurch. Previously she worked in numerous roles for a Fletcher company across the country and is well qualified to take on administrative duties for 73 Hire. Both Les and Cath saw a gap in the Selwyn District for a locally based hire company and are excited about 73 Hire's prospects. They are looking forward to making quality equipment easily accessible to locals, taking away the need to travel into Christchurch.
