About:
About Muriwai Volunteer Fire Brigade Story A Proud Tradition in Muriwai Muriwai Volunteer Fire Force was established in the 1965 by a group of locals who were worried that the communities isolation left it vulnerable to fires and other emergencies. The brigade stated life as a 'Fire Party' out of a small shed (still present at the back of our current station) with fire fighting equipment that was funded by the community after a lot of hard work fundraising and and effort from individuals in the community and brigade members personally chipping in cash. Over time the brigade has evolved and we became a Rural Fire Force, part of the National Rural Fire Authority and funded mainly by Auckland Council. In November 2014 we became part of the New Zealand Fire Service. Currently the Brigade operates a Mitsubishi pump tender and a specialised Ford Ranger 4WD for off road emergencies such as beach rescues. One thing is consistent through the years; the dedication and commitment of a group of local residents to ensure we have a fire and rescue capability to protect and serve the community. Mission Our Vision; Leading integrated fire and emergency services for a safer New Zealand. Our Values; Serving our community Integrity Adaptability, Skill, Comradeship New Zealand Fire Service Structure; The New Zealand Fire Service, Whakaratonga Iwi, is constituted under section 3 of the Fire Service Act 1975. Purpose The statutory role of the New Zealand Fire Service is fire safety, fire prevention, and fire extinction.
