About Somerfields Berryfruit is a local family owned and operated business providing the highest quality fresh and frozen berryfruit. Story Berryfruit growing commenced at Somerfields in 1970 when Valerie and Richard planted boysenberries on the farm. 1972 saw the first harvest and over the following years led to planting strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries. In 2004 a Somerfield daughter - Trish Somerfield, took over the strawberries and she continues to grow strawberries to this day. Somerfields Berryfruit is proud to be family owned and operated, many of the grandchildren enjoy working on the farm over summer holidays.
