About Our intention is to support the revitalisation of Te Reo and Tikanga to enable tamariki to grow up strong, caring, confident and competent. Story NAU MAI, Haere Mai We are very passionate about engaging learners through curiosity, creativity and recognising their individuality. Facilitating learning is important and lighting the spark of curiosity is the engine to learning. Mainstream education can be easily based on conformity seeing what tamariki/mokopuna can do over a very narrow spectrum of achievement we believe it is important to recognise that we are all naturally different and diverse. We have watched learners prosper when we recognise their various talents not just a small range of them. Our intention is to support the revitalisation of Te Reo and Tikanga to enable tamariki/mokopuna to grow up strong, caring, confident and competent so they are healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in the sense of who they are, and where they belong. We approach the physical, spiritual, emotional and intellectual development of our learners in a holistic way. At Ngā Poutoko Ā Mua we preserve the sacred relationship between past, present and future. We nurture and develop our learner's sense of identity through Pepeha and Whakapapa. Being centered at Tia Marae where our environment is a sacred space, we enable tamariki/mokopuna to feel safe to be themselves, creative, individual and curious. We endeavor to be eco-friendly by utilising the resources that Papatūānuku supplies us. We use traditional Māori methods to provide our learners with a unique understanding of the richness of the land and what it has to offer. Our concept of Whānau is an inclusive one, whether you are a blood relative, equally friends or whāngai emotionally and psychologically into the whānau, our idea of whānau contains the belief of all-embracing warmth and support. Our purpose is to guide our tamariki/mokopuna towards a prosperous future, establishing a foundation that enables them to flourish in anything they undertake.
