Story Whangaroa Big Gamefish Club was established in 1925 for the purpose of weighing two Marlin for Capt. L.D. Mitchell. Situated in the picturesque township of Whangaroa, Northland, New Zealand, Whangaroa Sport Fishing Club Inc is host to many fishing tournaments throughout the year in the Whangaroa Harbour and surrounding area. The Cavalli Islands nearby are renowned for world class game fishing. Striped Marlin, Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Broadbill Swordfish, Shortbilled Spearfish, Tuna, Yellowtail Knigfish and many more gamefish abound in the area The towering cliff faces and deep water sheltered coves and inlets of Whangaroa Harbour offer perfect anchorages for a spot of fishing.
