Story At Russell Nature Walks Lisette and Eion offer short, easy guided walks in a Private Forest reserve only 2.5 km from Russell, in the beautiful Bay of Islands. Russell is one of the last areas where two rare birds - Kiwi and North Island Weka - can be seen in the wild. We give people the opportunity to see and learn about these birds and the other native plants and animals. We offer a 'Forest Ecology Walk' and a 'Night Walk' that reveals what goes on in the forest when the sun goes down.
