About Balloons over Waikato is New Zealand's premier hot air balloon festival. 19 - 23 March 2019. At Innes Common & University of Waikato. Mission To promote, advance and encourage hot air ballooning for the entertainment of the general public and the promotion of the Waikato region. Products To host the largest hot air balloon event in New Zealand.In March 2019, at Innes Common on the edge of Hamilton’s central city lake and the grounds of the University of Waikato, more than 130,000 spectators will thrill to the sight of the annual Balloons over Waikato Festival, with a crowd of 70,000 + the last few years at the Nightglow. Tens of thousands more will have the opportunity to become involved at other sites throughout the Waikato region. Admission to this fabulous community event is FREE.
