About Portland Kindergarten is situated south of Whangarei. We have no fee's and service a wide geographical area from Waiotira to Maungatapere. Story We are a NO FEE's Kindergarten accepting 2 - 6 years old. All teachers are 100% qualified. Mission Our goal is to inspire children/tamariki to become capable, creative and confident learners. Through collaborative relationships/whanaungatanga family/whānau and children/tamariki feel welcomed and have a sense of place as a kindergarten family/whānau. We embrace diversity by being respectful and inclusive to all people. At Portland Kindergarten our programme is enriched with environmental education that provides opportunities to be a part of a healthy, peaceful and sustainable world. Through child initiated inquiry based learning we make connections with Earth Mother/Papa-tū-ā-nuku and Sky Father/Rangi-nui to gain the knowledge, understanding and love/aroha of Mother Earth. We believe the next generation is the guardians/kaitiaki of Earth Mother/Papa-tū-ā-nuku, ensuring children are immersed in nature and our natural environment. "Portland Kindergarten is situated 10 kilometers south of Whangarei.We pride ourselves on the location of the Kindergarten, with magnificent views of Mount Manaia, the beautiful Whangarei harbour and a picturesque rural backdrop.Children attend from a diverse geographical/rural area. This encompasses Waiotira, Maungakaramea and Mangapai in the southwest, to Maungatapere and Poroti in the west and includes the local communities of Portland and Otaika.We are taking new enrollments onto the waiting list, please do not hesitate to call or pop in for a visit. We cater for children aged 2 to 6 years of age."
