About Authorised by Durham Havill 74 Havill Drive, Aratuna,Hokitika Story The creation of a road to link Westland with Hollyford was first mooted in 1885. The Muller track was surveyed and this was excepted as a survey record 9109. The labour Government in 1935 approved the construction of the road however the advent of world war 2 stopped all progress. The road will complete the link between Haast and Hollyford opening a road link into the World Heritage Park and will be one of New Zealand's best conservation journeys. As a toll road there will be no cost or risk to Westland or Southland ratepayers but the benefits will be very large.
