Eastern Pacific Charters

Story

Skylla is a 39 foot Saunders designed charter fishing boat based in Whangamata. She is a modern, seakindly vessel, comfortably fitted out especially with fishing parties in mind. Half and full day trips available with your Hosts, Tony and Judy Warren.

Rates

Half day Charter

Half day charters consist of 4 hours onboard. Get a group together and get straight out to a favorite fishing spot for the days catch or enjoy the sights and soak up the sun at Slipper Island. Hey, why not do both! We can do morning or afternoon departures to suit all year round (depending on the weather).

Cost: $500 (Maximum 12 people)

Full day Charter

8 hours fishing at its best! Take a day trip to Mayor Island or The Aldermans! Trawl or anchor for bottom fishing. Theres plenty of options when you've got a whole day out on the water!

Cost: $960 (Maximum 12 people)

Gear rental
We have a wide range of fishing gear onboard. Rods, reels, tackle and bait. Let us know what you need when booking.

A beautiful day fishing with Te Ra Charters. Our group caught so many different species of fish - gurnard, red cod, blue cod, teraki, red snapper, striped carp and john dory. Chris the skipper was really helpful, assisting when needed with our rods, rigs and information about the fishing area. Thanks for a great day Chris.
Love my fishing and as a new part-time resident of Whanga thought this could be a regular gig BUT as an asthmatic the boat policy of allowing whoever want to smoke or vape to do so is a deal breaker. Before posting this review I spoke to them about it and was told if I don't like it don't come, they won't change policy as skipper smokes. Not really catering for the majority of the population who don't enjoy secondary smoke. Very disappointed
Was a choppy day on the water, but the man still took us out for an hour to see if it was possible, ended up being to rough so we came back in, still appreciated the effort and a good bloke I’ll be back to hopefully slay some fish
We went out on Te Ra charters today and had a great time. We left on time, the boat had plenty of rods and bait and for $60 it is great value bait and rods cost extra but you can bring your own of both for no charge. We had some trouble finding the fish and only a couple of people out of 14 brought anything home at all, but hey that's fishing, better luck next time. This is sadly the only reason I couldn't give 5 stars! This is not the sort of charter where the skipper baits your hooks and takes your fish off, you are somewhat left to your own devices which for me is great - but if you get in a tangle he will come help if you ask him. He also guts/cleans your fish for you on the way home but does not fillet so you have a whole fish. On the way home we spotted some dolphins near by, the skipper navigated near them and we had them swimming underneath the bow for about 20 minutes on the way home. An amazing finish to a fun day thanks.
Had a fantastic day out with Chris and Arthur today. Found plenty of Snapper and perfect conditions. Great to get the fish filleted and bagged. Will be back for sure. Thanks again!
Chris was so great with me and my family my 3yo loved it!! He even took pity on us with all the fish we caught and filleted the fish when we got back since we had no idea what to do with them! A beautiful trip and a whole lot of fish :
Awesome day out on the Te Ra today, nauti girls our skipper and captain Chris was wonderful and put us onto great fish. The best days fishing and came home with a full bin. Thanks Chris
Fishing is fishing and you dont always catch but.. Ol mate skipper Craig seems to have lost the love of the job. Ive been on plenty of charters here and overseas and the skipper is usually trying to make sure everyone on board has a good time i.e cutting bait, taking fish off, undoing tangles but he was just happy to sit in cabin rolling ciggies and playing on his phone. Also has a self imposed size limit on catch which is larger than regulations - good idea when you're pulling heaps in but it was terrible fishing and he made us throw back the couple of fish we caught that were actually legal or close to wouldnt properly measure.. To top it all off he wasnt even slightly apologetic about the rubbish fishing. Maybe try your luck on another day but I dont think i or anyone I know will be heading out with him again which is a shame as theres not many options out of whanga.

Woke up extra earlt this morning to a beautiful morning, birds chirping and an excited vibe in the air. Got down to the wharf and lo and behold, ol mate skipper comes and sees us group of 5 snd says 'oh, I called and text everyone saying no fishing today'. Obviously he didn't as I received no call or text saying the above, even though I called yesterday to book in an extra person. Poor customer service cost us a nice sleep in on an easter Sunday and no way of getting back into our bach we could've stayed in until 2pm. Thanks for nothing Te Ra
