Highland Cattle are our favourite beef breed and we have well over 100 head. Chock-full of character and good looks, we often show them at A&P Shows .
We breed high quality Highland Cattle, registered with the New Zealand Highland Cattle Society (NZHCS). Doug has been a member of the Society Council since 2008, and is passionate about the protection and improvement of this ancient Heritage breed.
Highland Cattle are hardy, bred originally in the Scottish Highlands. They are excellent cattle for hilly country, especially if it has rough pasture.
Highland beef is renowned for its tenderness and flavour, and we can testify to the truth of this.
The cattle have endearing characters and are extremely good mothers. While the breed is slow growing, the heifers calving at 3 years old, the cows can continue calving up to 20 and some have been older.
We have regularly shown our cattle at A & P Shows, and Dargaville Fielddays for a number of years, and are very proud of them and the many ribbons and trophies they have won.
To promote and protect the integrity of the Highland Cattle breed.
