The best fish and chips we’ve had in New Zealand. Good portions of fish, good batter and the blue cod tasted fresh and meaty. Chips were good but…still not as good as a UK chippie. This seems to be a NZ chippie theme, they’re like McCain oven chips. We took a short walk up the road and ate on the stationary boat, overlooking the sea. Perfect.
Do not buy a burger from this place. I had a cheese burger and chicken burger. Cheese burger was disgusting! Gagged and spat it out straight away. The “meat” pattie was absolutely disgusting. It was either off or dog food. Mind you, I don’t think I’d even feed it to a dog to be honest. Chicken burger was severely lacking in anything good. Chicken burger was literally one chicken pattie, some lettuce that had turned to mulch and a tiny bit of onion with a quarter squirt of tomato sauce. Will not be going back to this place again
Pretty average chips, quite soft and not at all crispy. If you like burgers i can't recommend here as even though they charge $11.50 for a Hawaiian it only has one of those thin 50 pack mad butcher typed frozen beef patties in it, which might be ok in any burger half the price but not $11.50 where you would be expecting home made or an angel bay.
Delicious! Great value and the burgers were so good! Made our quick stop in hokitika very enjoyable. Cant beat fish and chips by the coast
The best fish and chips you'll ever taste. The hard-working ladies at Dulcie's churn out burgers, whitebait patties and tons of other yummies for the queues of people - locals and tourists - who arrive to collect their paper-wrapped goodies. Grab a can of L&P and eat your fish n chips down at the nearby beach. Kiwi as!
It's great if you loved everything fried! We tried the blue cod, hoki, wedges and fries, and being small eaters, my partner and I could have done without the fries. Not much of a difference between the blue cod and hoki in my opinion, except the texture was finer for the blue cod.
Best fish n chips I’ve ever had & I’ve had great fish n chips elsewhere.. lovely fresh fish, excellent crispy batter & just the best chips.. I was in fish n chip heaven and watching the sunset on the sea nearby while we ate was magic.
Whilst having to wait 40 minutes for my order when they told me it would be 20 minutes, I then got to the beach to discover they had left out an item that I had paid for. I was too hungry and too fed up off waiting at the place to even bother going back. The kumara chips were ok but the blue cod was not worth the money I paid. There was little flavour too it and too much batter.
Fish chips during New Years Day was not as nice. Very oily compared to our previous visit. Still a nice place to get some fish and chips in Hokitika.Food: 3/5
Very tasty fish and chips, and the sausage was gorgeous!! Very friendly staff and service. Only let down was the sauces, which, although tasty, were $2.50 per pot despite no price being listed on the board. Could also benefit from vinegar and chippy forks.Food: 4/5
