Story

Historic Duart House built in 1882 for Allan McLean and family, is a beautiful example of a carefully restored and maintained colonial estate. Set in 3 acres of gardens, which are always open to the public, Duart House provides and elegant and stylish venue for all kinds of small functions including weddings, conferences, exhibitions and concerts.

Duart House is open to the public on the first Sunday of each month. However, we are also very happy to open at other times by prior arrangement.

Duart Croquet Club maintains a full-sized and well-maintained lawn, allowing members to enjoy a pleasurable game in quiet and secluded surroundings.

We had a visit to Duart house with Peggy showing our Rebus club around this wonderful old house.
Enjoyed the beer and cider event. The band was good also.
Not another soul in sight so was nice to wander freely. Dont expect totally manicured gardens but they were nice. Unfortunately not being first Sunday in the month the house wasn't open so may be back some other time to visit it.
A delightful piece of Havelock North history
in Havelock North for three years in the 1990s, I had never come across Duart House. I didn't get to go inside as it's closed most days but it is a rather beautiful 1800s grand house and pleasant Gardens. Worth a little diversion to see an interesting piece of New Zealand history
Beautiful gardens, beautiful building. Is earthquake prone, so a source of worry there. Difficult to access the creek/ walking area below impossible for a wheelchair
Grounds are lovely. I see lots of recent native plantings near the creek. Very pleasant. Have not been inside.
What a beautiful historical Building well kept beautiful gardens and grounds inside beautiful well kept home full of history if only the walls could talk. Food wow outstanding on another level. Highly recommend
Visited for a wedding. Extensive gardens and a colonial house. Good central function room and deck. Very relaxed and casual place for a wedding.
We looked at this historic building for our wedding its lovely and I liked the character but it was too small for all our guest
