About

Baked With An Empirical Mind!

"At Jungs bread and baking is at the heart of what we do and because people loved our breads so much, we couldn't help but evolve into a café where we could serve equally remarkable cakes and pasties which of course then led to the creation of our fabulous German style menu!We now proudly serve breakfast, brunch and lunch, delightful sweets and fresh salads in our Beaconsfield Café. There's hearty bowls of homemade soup and delicious Schnitzels, Burgers as well at Bratwurst hotdogs and the kids will love our fun Jungsters Menu! Locally we are a neighbourhood favourite, a place to find a warm welcome. Now run by the third generation of the Jungs family our cafes are places where people can gather with friends or hide out on their own."

I have been going to Jungs for over 15 years and have never been disappointed. The service is always first class and the food especially the bakery is unbelievable! Recently, my partner called to ask they could help with a last minute bread & pastry basket and the photo does not do it justice. Richard happened to be in the office and took care of everything, it is not often people are so accommodating and friendly!
Place was welcoming and ambience was very good with a good choice and selection on the menu. However, they got order on the food wrong as we were a party of 8 who ordered a selection of cakes and coffee and 2 orders of breakfast . Both then breakfast orders were incorrect and nor quite what was anticipated The waiter was quite helpful but the meal took twice as long to finish.
Came in for tea and cake. Order 1 wrong, scrambled eggs instead of turkish eggs. Took a while to sort but kudos to them they did. The poached eggs were fried and so overdone. Order 2 of french toast was limp brioche dipped in egg, no honey and not sweet. Asked for some and repeatedly told 'its on there' or 'manager before getting some on side and being told "its on there but maybe not enough for you. It tasted of nothing. Roasted coconut on menu was sprinkled dessicated coconute, not roasted. Ive literally not had a worse French toast anywhere else. Overpriced lack lustre food Only saving grace was our waiter, who was very helpful and polite.
Great atmosphere and coffee is delicious. The servers make a difference but if you get Kelly she is superb. Helpful, cheery and extremely efficient. I often have to catch a train so grabbing a coffee as I pass is critical to timing. Kelly not only recalls my order but ensures this is presented to me quickly which is often the issue at other locations. Please don’t leave Kelly : you make my Jungs experience enjoyable and less stressful than it has often been with other vendors. I’ve missed many a train when I’m in the uk due to slow and lacklustre customer service so thank you changing this Kelly. Awesome. J
Ordered take away Jungs Hot Dog and Roast Vegetable toastie and a portion of chips. Hot dog and cold chips came, no toastie, then bacon brie and cranberry sandwich arrived. This was returned and had to wait for correct order. Waited a few minutes, it hadn't been cut in half, the filling was cold and it tasted and looked awful. Such a shame as it is a nice place and the lady who took the order was very nice.
Awful food. I've been disappointed with the food here in the past, but gave it another go today as Fego didn't have any empty tables outside buy Jungs did. The clues were there. The club sandwich was very dry, the bacon barely cooked and the whole thing tasteless. Should have gone over the road to the Beech House which is much more reliable.
Came here with the family expecting a nice afternoon brunch. I could not be more wrong. Initially received the wrong order and the fries were both over cooked and stale. When the chef approached us, he YELLED at us saying eat and get out. Its a shame as we’ve been coming here for about 6 years but the quality of the customer service has declined massively. Save your money and don’t come here.
Poor poor poor poor Jungs used to be one the favourite breakfast place. Over the years it has gone bad to worse. On my visit today, I have filthy cutlery! Mosquitos on pastrie. Wrong order twice! Stale chips, burnt bacon and when mentioned to the waitress, she rolled her eyes. And on top of that the chef was rude. Definitely the last visit!! Jungs need to seriously look at their reviews
I elected to try this spacious diner while meeting my mother for lunch. There is a Fego's which is excellent right mext to the salon where she has her hair done, but I wanted a bit of a stroll and we thought to try this option out for variation. Upon entering we were dismally acknowledged with nods for our "Good afternoon" and proceeded to seat ourselves anywhere. My lord, the place is dingy. I'm not asking for supermarket glare but, man, this place feels like it time jumped a hundred years from the Great Depression! Still we sat and chatted for five minutes, used the QR menu to select choices for lunch, then had to go to the counter and order and pay traditionally. Redundant much!? So we waited for drinks just a couple of minutes - a pot of herbal tea for my mother and a latte for me. The foam had no little flourish and looked like it had gone over the sides. I'm not that bothered by such things usually, but thinking about it, it shows the barista has put a little care and effort into the drink, which translates into my enjoyment of said drink. The one I was served in Jungs screamed misery. I sipped it anyway and grimaced. It was scalding hot and burnt so bitter it was just undrinkable. I said quietly to the waitress that I was sorry but the coffee was burnt and could I please have a replacement. She seemed a little bemused at the concept that coffee could be burnt but she obliged nonetheless. A couple of minutes later she brought me a lukewarm, but still burnt coffee and I decided to cut my losses and just drink up. Who knows what results a second try may have produced? Certainly not a smile! Presumably one has to pay extra for such perks. Still, at a harsh £25 for two lunches and two drinks, I'd think a little service would be included, though briefly reading the staff reviews of their treatment while employed maybe goes some way to explaining the dearth of joy in the place. So, I and my mum conversed for the next ten minutes while waiting for our food: Spanish omelette for her, Eggs Benedict for me. Both arrived at the same time on ice cold plates. My mum said that her omelette was passable but my dish was a disaster. One egg broken, the yolk pooled over half the plate, leaching away any suggestion of warmth. On top of that the hollondaise was doused over this lavishly, a large drool in the middle of the yolk pool next to the muffin. Presentation man! Not least the fact you should have cooked another egg as the one was broken, but come on, it's poached eggs. Even I as an appalling cook who can burn stir-fry I know can make a smashing eggs breakfast, scrambled, poached or otherwise. This was such a disappointment, but the reception we'd gotten since arriving made me shy away from ordering a replacement. Even my mother, never one to waste food, wouldn't insist on me cleaning my plate. Needless to say I had become quite bereft of appetite at this point. As we left, thoroughly dissatisfied and £25 lighter in the pocket, my mum quietly and politely informed our waitress that the food was cold and really wasn't satisfied. The waitress looked confused, looked over to the two men who stood behind the bakery counter arms folded who looked equally uninterested, before my mum said "Never mind, don't worry about it. Thanks for having us," still to be met with resounding silence and empty stares. Suffice to say I am very sorry for having clearly intruded into an eating establishment that has a policy perhaps best expressed as "The customer is a bloody inconvenience!" Next time I shall think very carefully as to whether I am worthy of eating at your restaurant. No stars if I could.
Jungs has a nice atmosphere. The environment is comfortable and relaxed and the service has improved over the past few months. In particular I should call out Kelly. I visit this site most days and this particular server is professional and highly efficient. She is always multi-tasking but despite this our order was correct, which isnt always the case, and she was welcoming and personable which makes all the difference when choosing a venue. Thank you Kelly for making us feel so welcome and for providing such a great customer experience. Jungs is clearly fortunate to have you onboard.
