Hi, I am from a country lifestyle and farming background and since childhood have had a great love of animals, especially horses and dogs.
Over the years I have broken in firstly my own horses and later more for other people, friends and family.
I enjoy working with young horses and watching them progress brings me a great deal of satisfaction and enjoyment. I have bred a few of my own from my own stallion and mares and have shown in-hand and under saddle in western, my mares, stallion and the progeny from these.
These days with a family of my own I prefer to trek, with my children joining in the experience, enjoying good people and great country!
And this is where my dogs have become a bigger part of my life. I've
always had a working dog at my heels on the farm jobs I've had but in later years have added the smaller companion dogs to the mix.
The cross I have here has produced a loving, loyal, family companion that suits the market of people looking for the low shedding, hypo-allergenic coated dog without the doggy smell. Great for those wanting an inside companion but hardy enough to still be kept outdoors if preferred. The Spitz cross brings with it the very low health risk and dirt-repelling coat of the breed and the gorgeous teddy-bear, ewok (from Star Wars) look. Combined with the poodle cross and the other crosses, it results in a very intelligent, easily trained dog.
For those, still with a preference for the bigger dogs, I have started another cross with the Siberian Husky and German Shepherd, with the aim of bringing the trainability and loyalty of the German Shepherd to the somewhat aloof nature of the Siberian Husky. They have gained a reputation for low recall or 'No Ears' when they have a focus on something else of interest that becomes of higher importance than you.
They require a firm, consistent trainer who can also meet their high energy demands. While having a loving and friendly nature, they often prove too much for less experienced dog owners, especially those living in town where the dog does not get the same opportunity to run and exercise, thus becoming bored and therefore destructive, resorting to digging, escaping, howling and chewing.
So for those that love the look of the husky but want that easier to train, more loyal, forever willing to please type nature, we hope this cross does it for you.
I currently have two Husky girls, sisters from different litters and a German Shepherd x collie heading dog male. The pups shown on my page are from their first litter, showing the range of colours and looks we are getting.
My small dog male is pictured in the profile shot as 'Sire' and is a Maltese x Sydney Sylkie.
I have two small girls, both with Poodle/Shih Tzu crosses. One has the Spitz cross added and the other has the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel cross.
Although their is a mixture of breeds in the cross, it has brought out he Hybrid Vigor so commonly seen in crosses, with none of them displaying or showing evidence of any health issues, so common to the individual Pedigree Breeds.
I hope to continue to improve on these breeding lines to result in strong, healthy and intelligent crosses.
