Dominator Citywide Garage Doors Ltd (Formerly Dominator Belfast Ltd) is located at 295 Cranford St, St. Albans Christchurch. We are proud distributors of Dominator Garage Doors who manufacture affordable garage doors in New Zealand, both in Christchurch and Auckland, and is the leading brand in the garage door industry.
All doors are made in New Zealand, to ISO 9001 Quality Standards.
We sell, install and repair Dominator Sectional, Roller and Tilt garage doors, Dominator automatic garage door openers, and Dominator automatic gate openers

We will travel Canterbury wide, servicing Kaiapoi, Rangiora, Fernside, Woodend, Pegasus, Amberley, Oxford, Darfield, Hanmer Springs, Culverdon, Cheviot - anywhere at all!!

We have an extensive range of spare parts available to fix almost any type of garage door. We can repair, service and maintain all types of garage doors.

We have most types of remote controls for all types of auto door openers.

We sell replacement springs for tilt doors, roller doors and sectional doors.

We can retrofit insulation to existing sectional doors.

We have an installation service for products purchased elsewhere (i.e. auto door openers from hardware stores.)

We are approved insurance repairers for all major insurance companies. We are EQC approved repairers for Canterbury Earthquake repairs.

We were simply delighted with Dominator's commitment to their after sales service and customer care. We had a small issue with our roller door and Dominator made it really easy to reach out and schedule support. The technician was super helpful and friendly. Where Dominator really shone though, was with their customer service. They went above and beyond to see us right, sourcing some hard to find parts, communicating really well and displaying the very best of professional service. Everyone we spoke to was so courteous and keen to help. It's easy to see why they have such a strong reputation for customer service in the market - we couldn't recommend Dominator highly enough - Jon and Jackie
The service was great, no complaints there .. but the price!? It had been raining and for some reason the gate wouldn't operate .. I called Dominator who sent someone out. I was told "They checked operation of gate. Control board had a bit of dirt and cob webs inside so opened up and cleaned. Battery and charger tested all good. Gate tested fine".. so in effect nothing was done to the unit, no parts needed and I was charged $205 which I've been told is the standard call out charge .. I considered this amount to be outrageous. I understand qualified electrical technicians are required for these units BUT .. $205 for a 15min check and dust of the unit. I did ask how I could prevent this from happening again. Note the unit had also been seen to in September 2021 ..
A spring broke on our garage door. Dominator were able to come the next day. The repairman arrived within about 15-20 minutes of the arranged time a rarity with tradesmen, sometimes I can be waiting hours, gave a good explanation of what needed to be done and the cost, and had it all fixed in about an hour. He finished off with lubricating all the joints in the door and gave me some tips on maintenance. I notice that after he left the action of the door is much smoother and it's a lot quieter when it comes down. All-in-all we're very happy with the work done.
I am 100% satisfied with the excellent service Brett gave to fix my door. He was early and a very efficient worker. Communication with Hamish was also excellent. Would thoroughly recommend.Thank you very much and have a great 2023!

I was impressed by the service Dominator provided. The service person arrived on time fixed the problem with my garage door and serviced it. It is working better than ever and is so much quieter than before. I am very happy and would recommend Dominator highly.
door is great but everytime it rains when you open it up water drops down inside garage from door, only thing i can see is when its raining its not draining away just sitting on flat tin where the joins are and when it opens it just comes in garage,stuff gets wet inside everytime, not good somethings not right had someone come out but did not fix,dominator doors sent reply cant do anything about it ,big company cant fix water coming inside garage door when opening,sorted it myself no more water coming in just need to do it permantly now,so as to blend in with door colour will be a summer project so will change my star rating for dominator doors.
Went to dominator's office to arrange a new garage door opener, 2 minutes later I left with a price and booking. Installer was on time, quick and efficient, am delighted with the new unit, well done dominator 5/5.
We used Dominator to service our garage door, which was required for our warranty. We were really impressed with the service. Booking was easy, they arrived on time & had the job done in no time. Would recommend!
We are very happy with the service provided by Dominator. Local, great advice and build. Value for money. I went with an insulated door and this has made a massive difference to the garage space as we use it for recreation. The only thing to add is we had water ingress when it rained heavily. I would open the door and water poured down on the carpet. Seals have now been put in and this has fixed the problem but I would have like to have been informed of this potential at the time of advice and quote. It was unexpected. The door is just great and I will recommend Dominator to friends.
