I took the open water dive course at Dive HQ. It was amazing! Ryan and Matt did an amazing job teaching us all. By the end of the course I was able to feel comfortable with the skills and did some amazing dives at Wainui and Lake Coleridge. Would definitely recommend getting certified here!
Booked the Try Dive. Had snorkeled a bit but never tried scuba. Great instruction and quality loaner gear, Everyone one the course was made comfortable and confident through the group then one on one instructions as we progressed through the exercises and skills. Was easier than expected and a great intro and confidence builder for those contemplating going for their open water certificate. Plenty of time in the pool and great course leaders
I did the open water course with their instructor Matt and the experience was really good. Challenged myself outside me comfort zone and tried something completely new. Matt was super nice and supportive along the courses, took us to both Wainui and Lake Coleridge for diving, taught the skills in a good pace with clear demonstration. In sum, first time diving + first time be in the ocean + first time had photo taken underwater. Heaps of fun. Will be back here when I am ready for the AOW course.
My 15 year old son just completed his open water scuba diving PADI course with Dive HQ Christchurch. Fantastic experience from organization and communication right through to the online learning, dives, equipment and encouragement. Would happily recommend to others interested in underwater pursuits.
Really fun open water course with Dive HQ in August 2023. Instructor Dom was very professional and friendly, going above and beyond to fix a problem with the dates. Learnt heaps of new skills on the course which has increased my confidence heaps. Skills were taught in a non-intimidating manner and I honestly forgot I was being assessed, that's how supportive it was! Really looking forward to my dive journey from here!
The most important thing for me when learning to dive was that I felt safe when diving and to perform the skills required to get my PADI. Matt and Sonny were our instructors for the open water course and they were exceptional. The communication was excellent and they prepared us really well through briefings on what to expect and experience in the pool. Thanks for a great couple of weekends and looking forward to trying out my new skills
Did the open water course with these guys in Kaikoura and had a great weekend. Learned the ropes and got the cert. Highly recommended and looking forward to more dives.
Great course! Ryan was a great instructor. I felt very safe and learned a lot during each dive. Maddi helped on the open water dive and was very knowledgeable. Would highly recommend being trained by either of them.
What an awesome crew to learn to dive with. Really supportive and helpful instructors who have a geniune interest in teaching people to dive. Nothing was a problem for these relaxed and knowledgeable instructors. Equipment range is outstanding. I am finished this course confident I can scuba dive in a recreational setting while still knowing my limits. So pleased i learnt here with Dive HQ before going overseas to dive. Can't wait to get back out there. Thanks Sonny, Maddi, Matt and Richard.
Had a great experience doing my PADI Open Water course with Dom Buyers over the past two weeks. He was very knowledgeable and lead our group easily while having fun and making the learning experience enjoyable. After finishing the course, Richard gave me a great overview and rundown of the different types of gear available in the shop, the price points, pros & cons of different styles and helpful suggestions about which things would best suit the style of diving I want to do. Overall, would highly recommend this store and the guys/gals running it.
