We were in Whangarei for a wedding. They recommended this hotel and glad we took it.nGood location, inspite of been an hotel it was Clean. Serviced every day with plenty of toiletries.nGreat and very obliging staff. Amy at the reception and another lady in the restaurant were exceptional. She was not there when we checked out, so couldn't get her name. Those 2 should be commended for their efficiency.nThough didn't meet, the chef, is to be thanked for catering to my dairy free needs,nThank you again and will recommend to those travelling to whangarei NZ.
Great hotel in central Whangarei. Across the road from the harbour with nice short walk to bars and restaurants water-side.nRooms are clean, comfy mattresses and well appointed with amenities and modern bathrooms. Photos can be believed, and if anything under-sell the place. Large number of rooms, ive never had an issue getting a booking even last minute.nMorning breakfast is worth getting, good options, fair price.nStaff are really helpful and kind. The hotel bar is a nice quiet.place to hang out after a long day.nHotel facilities include gym and pool which are always quiet and a pleasure to use.nMy favourite hotel in the Whangarei area.
I didn't book the hotel, a friend did for us. Unfortunately, we had to stay there due to her not telling me about the last-minute changes she did.nThe room is okay, decor and beds were good but the bathroom ‍ toilet was pretty much sitting against the sink. If you showered, the water was running out fast towards the room as the drain wasn't catching the water fast enough and only had a curtain to block it so we also had to use a towel to make sure it never reached the carpeted area.nThe location was in a good place, though.nSadly, our stay ended on bad terms cause of one's behavior.
Stayed at the Distinction Whangarei overnight on 20-21 March 2025 whilst visiting beautiful New Zealand from England. Hotel is centrally located with lots of parking and our stay was very comfortable and the inclusive breakfast was excellentnHowever, I have dropped a star because the evening staffing was minimal so we endured long waits at the bar, which then closed at 9pm!? Also the hotel swimming pool was ice-cold and the spa bath was closed. Guest facilities should be usable and available so this was disappointing. Love New Zealand though!
Good hotel and one of the better ones in whangarei. Some areas of the place are a little dated, however they have been going through an upgrade program in many of the rooms. I stayed in one of the upgraded rooms and it was nice, clean and bright. The hotel features a gym, swimming pool as well as a bar and restaurant. Over the road is the marina so a nice place to take a leisurely walk. This place is well worth a visit.
