Loved the staff!! They were very kind. The view was fantastic!! However the room let us down. Massive pink stain in carpet, stains in basin, and there were ants in the bathroom. Would have loved to have fresh water, we had to use the bathroom water smh. The complimentary foods like coffee etc were poorly. Not enough milk pods for your coffee. We’d expect more than that especially for the price we paid superior room didn’t feel superior at all. Dinner wasnt great, for the price again you’d expect better… looked at the menu for breakfast.. mmm nope not paying $30 for two eggs and extras like toast for extra $$ nope. ‍↔ Before I finish this horrifying review, you really need to update your 70s style hotel. So outdated. Wouldn’t recommend over all sorry.
This was our second stay at Distinction Hotel. As always the staffs were very friendly and helpful. We didn't book in advance but the staffs went out of their way to get us accommodated. Applauds to the lady who served us apologies for not getting your name. Had a good stay. Will definitely come again.
I booked a room for a work trip after my coworker said they enjoyed their stay during a work trip and I’m glad I was influenced.nnIt’s my first time in Whangārei and I found it very easy to locate the hotel. Check-in was quick and easy and there was a lot of off-street parking! My room itself was very spacious, modern and well lit. I was impressed by how many toiletries and towels that were supplied for me in the bathroom.nnI usually find it difficult to fall asleep when I’m away from home I’m a bit of a homebody who hates being away from her dog, but I found it very easy to fall asleep here. I believe it was a mixture of the pillows being perfect I contemplated bringing my own pillow as I usually get a sore neck from hotel and air BnB pillows the comfy bed and the welcoming environment.nnThere were two occasions within 24 hours of my stay where my hotel card played up, but the reception staff were very efficient and helpful - I’m happy they verified my identity before fixing my card as it made me feel extra safe.nnWhen I came back to my hotel room on my second day I was pleasantly surprised to see my bed had been made, rubbish was taken and my towels had been refreshed. I wasn’t expecting anyone to come in my room or do anything for me during my stay and I really appreciated the surprise I’m glad I didn’t leave my room littered with clothes.nnMy only negative would be someone’s alarm going off early in the morning for long periods. They had it set to vibrate and I could hear the vibrations in my room - I’m not sure if they were snoozing their alarms or there were multiple ones set. I will note that voices don’t travel between the walls or floors, but somehow alarm vibrations do. The only time I heard people was when they were talking and walking past my room.nnI’ll definitely be booking in at the Distinction for any future Whangārei trips work or personal. I really love the location, quality and ease of everything. All of my friends and coworkers I’ve sent photos to have commented on how nice my room looked.nnShoutout to whoever chose the pillows, the giant mirrors and all the other furniture as well as the house keeping staff who do a beautiful job!
Great place to stay when you're in town. Central and walking distance to anywhere. Rooms are kept clean and the staff do a great job keeping them so. Front of house staff are always helpful. Absolutely no cooking facilities in rooms except for a kettle. Everything is geared towards the restaurant. Dinners are good but the breakfast buffet is quite average. Bland would be the best word. Flavourless is another. The hot menu needs an overhaul, although the continental is decent. Certainly not worth the $35 price.
Old facilities holes in wall's,nPaint falling off, carpet old not cleaned regularly.nGood location.nNeeds a refurbishment asap
