A couple of recent negative reviews pushed this down to the bottom of our list. But with other places being closed and this being so convenient we decided to try it.nnGlad we did! Service was friendly, the BLT was amazing and the chips were very crisp and hot. And, the best thick shake ice cream we’ve had on our month-long South island exploration.nnSo glad we stopped it
An awesome experience all round. It was like stepping through a door and you in a different time. A cozy, comfy retro style booth with a jukebox playing great music from when time was slower and life had purpose and meaning. Great food and superb cup of coffee was the highlight of our visit. A definite stop, even if you are just passing through Oxford.

We clearly ordered a burger without bacon, but it arrived with bacon. When we told the staff, they simply removed the bacon and returned the same burger instead of remaking it. We later still found bacon pieces in the food.nnWe do not eat bacon. This was careless, disrespectful, and unacceptable food handling.
I hate to do this BUT we feel so strongly about warning other potential customers that we feel we have too. We used to regularly visit this place for amazing coffee and brunch, taking the kids for weekend treats too. The last few visits it’s been absolutely trash. Horrid customer service from the new owner, sad staff that once were happy and cold coffee with yucky overpriced food. Today takes the cake with us preparing our whole day around taking the kids out for a school holiday milkshake and the place is closed despite its online hours and the hours on the door. Not the first time! It’s impossible to even attempt to support this establishment any further and we will be advising all our out of town visitors and staff to take a wide berth as it’s barely been holding on with its awesome decor but that’s not worth going for when it’s awful food and usually closed now anyway.
