We had some bottled juice drinks, coffee and chips. I cannot tell much about food since we did not order any. However, the fries we ordered was generous and freshly fried.nnThe location is near the Diamond Harbour wharf and the patio area has a nice view of a big soccer/green field.nnIt was quiet on a Monday afternoon so the eatery had plenty of seats.
Second time visiting this place and am glad the first time wasn't a fluke. Service was great, food was amazing and the indoor outdoor flow was great. We had 4 dishes - Crumbed Beef Schnitzel, lamb shank, fish and chips and the vegetarian dumplings. Generous portions for all dishes. Standouts in each meal served. From the light crispy batter on the melt in your mouth fish and chips, to the beautifully slow cooked lamb shank, to the mushroom sauce on the nicely cooked Schnitzel. The sauce for the dumplings was a lovely sesame that really complimented them. The chips served with the fish and Schnitzel were top notch as well. You could tell the oil they were fried in was fresh.nnCan't wait to take another venture to the Diamond Harbour Eatery and Bar.
Came here for a casual dinner and really enjoyed it. We ordered pizza and chips, nothing fancy, but the pizzas were delicious and the curry chips were absolutely spot on. Staff were friendly and the food was brought out fairly quickly. Reasonably priced and a thoroughly enjoyable meal. I'd love to come back and try other meals on the menu.nIf you love a good local bar & eatery with some honest food and genuine service, this is a fantastic spot.
Had our dinner at the Eatery on Waitangi Day.nThe staff immediately told us there will be a wait on food about 30mins before we placed our order. Which was really appreciated. Gave us a chance to think and plan.nWe decided to sit back and relax. And waited for our food. Was not disappointed at all. It was a generous amount and full of flavour.nWould go back again for sure. Better then some big city places.
Waited over 30 minutes for a gluten free pizza, and almost 40 minutes for a bowl of fries. The pizza was the worst I’ve ever had — I ordered chicken and cranberry, and got a few small pieces of old tasting chicken, and probably a tablespoon worth of cranberry puree, clumped together in a few spaces on the pizza. It was mostly that packet cheese on the pizza, which was only slightly melted. It almost tasted like canned spaghetti and cheese on toast. Chips lacked any flavour and salt.nnNo real atmosphere. Dirty tables around that were not being cleared. No music. The girl on the counter was friendly but seemed very unsure of herself and what food was available. A lot of flies inside.nnIt’s a shame this is not better, as I’m sure it’s popular among tourists being the first cafe you come across, coming off the ferry. It had potential to be much better. The only good part was the view!
