A well known local bar and eatery. The menu is rustic with many kiwi favourites including stone based cooking for steak, tasty beef curry and fish of the day. Great service and facility layout for guest to socialise Vegetarian options: A few options Parking: Plenty of safe parking Dietary restrictions: Limited options
Westport is graced with some excellent eating establishments. And the Denniston Dog would have to be my favourite. I have never walked away disappointed. The Food is delicious, Staff are excellent. Called in last week while I was in Buller for a few Beers and a Burger. Happy Hour made for some decent prices on drinks. Seemed to be more understaffed than usual on this crazy busy Friday night. But the Staff were attentive and friendly at all times. Food came out quick, and extra drink requests tended to promptly. The Denniston Dog has stayed consistently excellent over the years, and I highly recommend it! :
We had lunch and dinner here and the food is very tasty. The team was friendly. Nice atmosphere. A must try when you are in Westport.Food: 4/5
The food was excellent whitebait was yumm chicken was yumm . The chips i would of preferred to have been bigger so less chance of over cooking them , but if that's the only complaint then we are all good. The staff were very pleasant and helpful . DOG friendly must be on a leash . Toilets were very clean. The menu had a wide variety of choices . Opening hrs vary from day to day , see one of the photos .
Yum food! The gravy in the Lamb Shank is so flavoursome, and mashed potato is soft. Sirloin Stonegrill, Prawn kebab and cide braised potatoes are all delicious! Even the sauteed greens are amazing as well! Very satisfied;
I had a pleasant experience at the Denniston Dog. Our tour leader made the booking ahead of time for our party of 11 and we were seated in the covered patio outside. I ordered a glass of wine and the chicken blt salad. It was pretty good! The chicken wasn't dry and the bacon wasn't too fatty. Both meats were seasoned well. And the portion of salad was large so I was pretty full at the end of my meal. The wine was delicious, too. I wish I had room for dessert. Service was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is really casual. It was quiet that night, most likely because it was a Monday. I can imagine it would get busier towards the weekend. Everyone in my group seemed to like their food, so I say give this place a chance if you're in town.
My boyfriend loved the 400gram stone grill steak!! I think he'd eat it every day if he could. I had the Buddah bowl. It was a little small and definitely needed some protein added. They had the choice of falafel or chicken, but I got it without either my mistake. Without protein I feel like it was more like a side dish.
It felt like all of the staff who worked there were also part owners in the business. The food is a step above pub food and the service was great. As I paid the bill I said "the food was lovely". The waitress just gave me knowing smile.Food: 5/5
Average food. Initially took the order very quickly and service was great, but after that waiters not to be seen again until food was delivered around 40 minutes later starter when the mains did arrive we both ordered ribs it tasted okay. Meat didn't really fall off the bone as you would expect, quite chewy. Bbq sauce a little bland. However, it was a very decent portion and filling. We would have ordered desert. However, once the main meal was finished, the waiter was nowhere to be seen and did not bring the desert menu over to us. So after waiting a while we paid and left.
Refreshing polite staff with a sense of humour. Warm and cosy atmosphere on a chilly evening. Meals delicious, presented well and priced fairly. Once again the coast hospitality shines!!!!
