Stopped in on Mother's day. There is a children's play area at the back. Outside seating as well. Good range of cabinet food and menu. I had a slice of chicken, bacon and Mushrooms pie with salad. Very good. Other family members chose salmon quiche and bacon and tomatoes quiche both served with side salad. They were also happy with there choices. Easy parking area at cafe and across the road.
Beautiful beautiful beautiful service from the owners. My family and I were stranded in Waitoki from 12am-6am travelling from Hamilton in the midst of the crazy floods and the owners came into the hall that we were in to offer their service. They were nice enough to offer free coffees out of the kindness of their heart and they took it a step further offering food later through the day. This has made our significantly memorable experience into an into one with a positive note. Thank you very much for the warm hospitality shown to us. This is what I will remember of not only DD's country cafe but also Waitoki.
Wonderful little find, a much needed coffee turned into a long brunch as the building and garden are so delightful that we couldn't leave. The food is really good too. Lovely choice of areas to sit and unwind. We'll definitely be back.
Food's okay but terrible customer service from sour-faced often nasty women serving at counter. I also had an experience like blueberry muffin lady. She was so offensive and spiteful my husband and I haven't returned in six months! You shouldn't be working in hospitality if you can't be hospitable. They have almost always omitted either a food or drink item off our order. Pity as this cafe used to be the best with previous owners and staff
Lovely food & hot drinks. Unfortunately the young girl who served us was not as welcoming, a smile would’ve helped. She also missed a hot drink we had ordered and didn’t bother to ask if I was waiting on anything til I had to ask about 10mins after was standing infront of her the whole time.Food: 5/5
I am the lady with the Blueberry Muffin, buttered, not heated. Lovely service from the young lady on the counter, and the muffin was delicious! Lots of fresh, juicy blueberries, and evenly distributed. BUT….. to the sour faced lady that “buttered” my muffin. That is not buttered!! That is a slab of butter, shoved in the top of the muffin in a big blob! Is that my punishment for asking for confirmation that this is how I wanted it? It was only the fact that it was pouring with rain that prevented me from coming back, and showing you how to actually butter a muffin properly. The couple behind me were also bemused at your sarcastic comment that it was “okay to confirm that’s what you want”. I think that might be the last time I stop there, which is a shame, as I used to tell people what a lovely wee place it was. PS….. I can still give you a buttering lesson if you like.
Good cafe, reasonably priced food and good coffee. Good selection from the menu and the cabinet. Something for everyone plus good service. Well worth a stop anytime
