Story

Located in the North Island of New Zealand, Dargaville High School is a decile 3, co-ed state secondary school, teaching students from Years 9 to 13. Our rural school has an impressive record of achievement in academic, sporting and cultural fields. Many of our former students have gone on to great success in the worlds of science, politics, business and sport.

Mission

Our aim is to provide a quality education to every student who attends our school. Dargaville High School encourages every student to develop and enhance their talents and we support them in a very special environment of care and concern. The relationship between school and home is a critical one. Whanau members are always welcome at Dargaville High School. Their thoughts and ideas are valued and this partnership is essential for each one of our students to reach their full potential. This is a terrible school I learnt nothing from this school and I had to leave at the very start of my second year because of how badly I was being bullied not only by the students but by the teachers especially by my dean and both the pe teachers.

Used to enjoy school, after moving to Dargaville my scores dropped, bullying increased, teachers were rude, insulting and swore a lot mostly the female math teacher, calls us d**ks  Only seen 1 teaching method here which is copying into our books from the board.  Overly strict on devices, confiscates devices for too long up to a month. Not allowed them there from underfunding meaning lost/stolen devices put the school in debt.  Often take advantage of the fact that young people don't know anything about how laws work or that some exist. Students can say "I don't consent" when they want to search your bag, if they still do then they are breaking the law. The school denies this and refuses to talk about it. Tell us how we are wrong instead of ignoring us.  Students: Learn the laws and take evidence, email to principal and if nothings done then contact NZHearld article writers directly not the page in messages, doesn't work. I'm sure if a video of a swearing teacher was in the media something would be done about it.
