I have bought some great things here but yes buyer beware .. be sure to get condition report because so many of their pieces are in need of repair.. I continue to buy from them because they do have pretty things at good prices.. I am disappointed that they are not more customer oriented as I am a repeat customer .. and have spent a fair amount of money but when I go they do not even make an attempt to be courteous .. I appreciate my customers and try to make them feel valued.. not the case here.. sometimes they do not even say hello , thank you for driving 5 hours to our auction and spending thousands of dollars .. oh well ..

while I had a scheduled appointment I waited almost 45 minutes for the loading crew to catch up with the people that had already been ahead of me. the items at auction are pretty incredible. Some date to the 1800's and are still in pretty good condition

Beware of these people! Not trustworthy. Will try to obtain your credit card information from you for whatever reasons, to do who knows what with it.

I have had a prior bad experience with crescent house auctions so I had stopped buying from them, but I saw an interesting item that I decided to take a chance on, partly because it did not look fragile. I asked for a detailed condition report and pictures which they sent. The trouble is they lied. The item was broken in pieces- and it is a heavy item and difficult to break. They loaded it onto the shippers truck completely broken and then refused to get in contact with me. This auction house is dishonest and their behavior is straight out fraudulent. Terrible experience overall. It was definitely a mistake for me to give this auction house another chance. Never again.

Great Experience! I don't know how one watch purchase and somebody not having a credit card can lead to an awful online review for 'everybody' to see, but I have had very good experiences with Crescent City. I've been buying at auction for about 12-13 years, furnishing historic homes that I have worked on. I have bought many items over many auctions from CC Auction Gallery for an 1857 plantation in Mississippi, and I've never had one issue. They are courteous, professional, and purchase/pick up has always been easy. Of course I had to have a credit card the very first time I registered with them- why wouldn't I? Thanks CC, I'll keep coming back, you have wonderful things! 3-28-17 Followup to this review; After purchasing many items at the last auction and shipping them out of state, they contacted me to let me know that a trim from one of the mirrors was left behind by my shipper. Who does that?! Any other place would have just thrown the piece away and forgotten about it. This auction house is wonderful.

Public Review SOLD COUNTERFIET ITEM, WOULD NOT REFUND NOR ADMIT GUILT, HORRIBLE, STAY AWAY I bought 2 pocket watches, they purposely did not show a hallmark on the 14k gold case, oddly they had time to show a sterling hallmark. They also had no photo of the back of the watch. I would soon find out why. Before I paid I send 10 emails and called 10x, I finally got a reply and was guaranteed it was a 14k gold pocket watch. Well, I got them and was in shock. The hallmark in the case was a fake 14k stamp, it was actually done so poorly it was done 2x. The back of the case was all worn, brass was showing on the edges. I now knew why they hid all the needed info. When I asked for help I was stonewalled and ignored, eventually I was quoted some mumbo jumbo and told to run salt. I have spend a fortune on line, 99.99% of all sellers would have canceled the sale and not even taken my money. Why these hustlers needed to con me and force a confrontation over a small lot is something I will never understand. So to surmise, Horrible service, fake 14k gold item, no help at all. Emails and phone calls ignored. I had to file a credit card dispute and leave a bad review which I hate to do. AVOID THESE PEOPLE LIKE THE PLAGUE. I only wish I did.

Sadly, this is the worse company I have ever dealt with. They did not honor the terms of their contract, took 11 months to pay for the consignment, lied frequently about the status of the payment, and falsified the reports. I tried multiple times by phone, email and in-person to resolve these issues. Buyer and seller beware, this used to be a respectable auction house- now it is not. Would give them zero stars if I could.

In purchasing two clocks they failed to provide the pendulums. 3 weeks later they have found them and now want me to pay the additional shipping. This firm lacks the ethics in making up for their mistakes. Based on previous reviews I would not purchase items online from this company. They use young ladies to act as a buffer with no decision capability and you will not be allow to speak to anyone in authority to resolve any issues in a fair manner.

SELLERS BUYERS BEWARE I purchased an item in March 2018. I re-consigned the item For them to sell. They put a reserve on it and didn't tell me. They had two chances to sell it for $300 or more and turned them down. this went on for about a year. Then they sent the item to a consignment shop and it sold in July 2019 for $150 I had to kick and scream to get them to send me my commission 9-25-19 their lack of communication and blatant disregard for my emails and messages I left is absolutely horrible and insulting. Then they send me a check for $90 and the contract says 25% commission they took 60%. I will never for the rest of my life by anything from this company again!

Buyer beware when purchasing collectible Russian items. This auction has very limited expertise on this segment of the market while offering a number of Russian lots such as icons, silver, paintings that are not authentic. They offer no refund even when the expert opinion indicates that the item is an outright fake. Prospective buyers, please be extra careful in making your selection, request additional photographs, condition report and expert opinion. Do not bid on a lot you are not 100% sure, as you will never get a refund for a fake item.
