Story

Creative Engineering is part of Wellington company Aqua Installations & Maintenance Ltd. With 20 years nearly as a preferred contractor working for the Greater Wellington Regional Council. Here's a bit about Aqyua and where it all started.

Aqua Installations and Maintenance (AIM Ltd) is a family owned company established in 1998 to provide trades and project management services for municipal and industrial water and wastewater providers.
Over the years we have built on our capability and now offer a diverse range of services while continuing to specialise in operational maintenance activities and capital projects.
We are a client focused asset maintenance and installation company and have built solid relationships within the water sector and hold preferred contractor status with the Wellington Regional Council Water group, now part of the Wellington Water CCO.
My Company Story
In 1996 I pursued an opportunity that presented itself with the Greater Wellington Regional Council. I was aware of a change in the company culture which moved the Council to the continuous improvement philosophy and expected this to be followed by the need for resources in the building maintenance and water treatment process fields.

We established a small team of sole traders and we commenced with our first direct engagement. The first project was a great success and we were then awarded a number of similar type projects.

On March 3 1998 I formed the company Aqua Installations and Maintenance Ltd.

In December 2003 we were successful in gaining Trade Services Contracts with Greater Wellington Water for Steel Fabrication and Building Maintenance. The contract term was three years with two opportunities to extend based on performance. Performance against the Key Performance Indicators was high and the contracts were rolled over to April 2013.

In early 2013 Greater Wellington Water combined the two trade service contracts and tested the market through a tender process. AIM Ltd was successful in this process and were awarded the contract for Mechanical and Building Services on 19 April 2013.

The existing contract term is five years plus five years. In 2017, twelve months prior to the end of the initial Contract Period, the incumbent contractor (AIM Ltd) has the opportunity, subject to satisfactory performance, to renegotiate for another subsequent five year period.), to April 2023.

Since 1998, the growth of the company has been somewhat organic. The demand for high quality mechanical services has been significant over the last 5 years and we have secured work outside the Wellington region in Horowhenua, Hastings and Queensland Australia.
We work hard for our clients and ensure we deliver a quality product for a fair price.


Company Goals
As the variety and volume of work has grown I have increased the number and type of resources employed and my goal has always been to secure enough work to enable the retention of my team.
The skills I have secured within my team over the years have enabled us to provide a vast range of activities, i.e. asset labelling, drafting process & instrumentation diagrams, asset data validation, physical works, fabrication works, inspections, trials etc.
The key goals are:
Maintain Wellington Water Trade Service Contracts to 2023 through continual high performance and compliance with KPIs.
Maintain excellent Health & Safety and Environment performance record.
Continue to expand our client base and develop sound relationships throughout and beyond the Wellington region.
Staff retention through well planned full work programmes and good employer status.
