We really enjoyed our visit here. Fascinating place It would of been helpful to know prior to starting loop walk that a siren will sound giving you 30 minutes to return to your car or you’ll be locked in!! This then turned our exploration into a speed walker marathon once it sounded only just getting back to office with a minute to spare. Signage should be at start so you can take an alternative route. Prices are excellent staff a little cold and unfriendly.
Great park and real special views of the craters. This walk will take you through a valley of different craters, with nice colours and special nature, with the information about their existence. One of the best things to do in the area when you compare the value with the price cheap here ! You can go for an extra loop for the hikers amongst us, which gives you a nice overview of the valley. Great place!
Came down for a trip from Auckland with my family visiting from South Africa. It was such a cool experience, such a lovely walk. We were more than happy paying the price for the well maintained walkways etc.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Amazing! Great walk, lots to see smell, and feel the heat! Working on all your senses. Very friendly gift shop with such good prices! Would definitely recommend and do again.
Took the kids to Craters of the Moon for a family activity. For the price of it, it was excellent value. We had a bit of a drizzly day for our trip. But the whole trip around the track was great even so. We learnt quite a bit about the flora around the site and enjoyed the landscape. It was really cool. My eldest kid is really interested in geo thermal and botanical stuff, so she took a lot of time reading all the signs. My youngest was a little scared but it was a good challenge for her as well, and we talked about safety and why all the signs are there. Would definitely recommend.
Entry is really cheap only $8 for an adult can get half price voucher for a morning section by bookme Great way to spend an hour or so. The main track is flat and there's no rush to get around it. The roaring holes on hill are accessible too. The field is active so it's not a boring walk. the steaming holes and outlook view are super for photos. Would definitely be going back.
About 40mins to an hour leisurely walk with kids, the track is well maintained, accessible, an interesting place to learn about bubbling craters and steaming vents..Educational and a must visit when in Taupo.. we enjoyed our time and the kids had fun too..Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
What an amazing place. You feel like you have stepped into another world or a movie set. A fantastic geothermal park without the sulphur smell. Very reasonable price and highly recommended.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Craters of the Moon or "Creators of the Moon" as listed in our B&B information sheet is an inexpensive outing for the whole family. Easy walkways and free parking - the entrance fee is very reasonable. While worth a visit or stop on the way down or up from Wellington.
Educational, and unique dramatic scenery... you must visit! Well worth the small fee for entry. Visit on an overcast day to enjoy the steam vents even more!
