I must admit that as an Asian, I have a high standard for Western food and it is difficult to find Western food that suits my taste. But this restaurant has done it! The best seafood chowder I have eaten in New Zealand so far, and the Thai beef salad that I fell in love with at the first bite. Although its price is not cheap, it is definitely worth the price! Coupled with its stylish decoration, I will definitely visit again.
Took my mum for dinner on Mother’s Day. They were booked out for lunch. Spoke to a great chap who took my booking over the phone he was very professional and helpful. We arrived in the dining area and were greeted by a lovely young lady,Summer. This young lady is an absolute treasure. Could not help us enough. Ordered meal which arrived in good time. Food was hot and tasty, beer was cold. All in all a nice meal made all the better by Summer. Plenty of memorabilia hanging off walls and ceiling upstairs and a great community library.Would highly recommend
My fiancé and I stayed here for two nights for my Nanny’s birthday. The hospitality, the service, the music, the food, the communication, the room, the sleep was all AMAZING!!!! This was our favourite stay by far. I also really appreciate the pet friendly environment. Our dog was free to be apart of our entire stay. She was welcomed into the restaurant and into the function room and our room we stayed in.. she’s a big part of our family so that was the best thing ever, thank you so so much for having us. We left feeling better than we arrived.nWe also want to thank the staff for their positive energy, and their support for my fiancé who had a brain injury. Thank you for making us feel so welcome. Highly recommended. We are truly grateful. XX
This is one of the best small town stays you will ever have! No, actually this just might be one of the best stays you'll ever have.nnWonderful staff, with friendly, helpful attention who willingly made out stay special.nnYou get to experience the very best of rural Canterbury. It may be some distance from the centre of Christchurch, but you're also kilometres away from traffic jams, parking problems and the mayhem of the big city.nnWe had two days here and it was so relaxing.nnThey have a great restaurant and prices are realistic.nnDon't think quality can't happen in a small town, because it can, and does. What a spot to stop!
Fell in love with this place. Taken there by friends who knew it well. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, hard case staff, cheeky and polite. Good meal and so many to choose from. Have to go back for another round. Went up stairs for a look and quite blo wn away. Parking was right outside, dogs welcomed so we made 3 new friends. Publicans was a hardcase dog. We'll definitely be back - and soon.
