We are a group of Lincoln University Global Challenges Scholars who are reducing food waste in New Zealand one chicken coop at a time.
We are a group of Lincoln University Global Challenges Scholars who are aiming to reduce food waste in New Zealand.
To achieve this we are constructing chicken coops to be placed in schools. The food waste from students will be fed to the chickens. The kids will then go home and teach their parents about the issue, increasing knowledge in the wider community.
The eggs laid by the chickens will be sold to the community, creating income for supplementary feed and other costs, allowing the coop to operate as a sustainable business.
