We usually visit this place when visiting Kaikoura. In the off peak periods it's usually the one place guaranteed to be open. Fish meals are pretty good. Batter on fish nice & crunchy & chips look to be hand cut. My order was the dory meal. Fish was small but cooked perfectly & served with lemon & tartare as well as the coleslaw & chips. Very fast & friendly service Parking: Street parking usually easy
Quite popular fast food place with lots of outdoor seats available and it’s own car park for customers. Choice of food is very good indeed. Taste is alright, we liked the most their seafood chowder, fish and chips was ok portion of dory was small, one piece only. Buttered oysters and scallops worth trying too. If only portions were bigger, then I would give them 4 stars.
Standard fish set was delicious! The chips were amazing too! lots of seagulls but that comes with a fish restaurant. If you’re really that bothered, eat inside. The outdoor patio was nice!
My wife and I shared a blue cod meal with a second piece of blue cod and 6 squid rings. All up about $43 and was a good sized meal for 2 of us, albeit a little on the pricey side. Fish was fresh and batter crisp. Tartare and tomato sauce provided was also good at no extra cost.
Eat there few times, fishSnapper and chips are nice but sometimes can be a bit soggy and greasy. If the chips cook 10 seconds more would be perfect. The Snapper is delicious.Food: 4/5
Ordered the Family Pack #1 Combo and added 2x Small Blue Cod pieces of fish. It's worth to pay the extra for the Blue Cod, it's mouth watering compared to the standard fish. There seemed to be always a line, but the wait was reasonable. No crayfish at the moment though
We got our freshly caught crayfish and other fish fillets cooked here, both were done great and we enjoyed the meal very much.
You pay for blue cod by weight, ranging from $9.50-$15.00 Photo is of $14, nice crispy batter and chips 1/2 scoop were good too. It's not the cheapest blue cod and chips, for that you'd have to go to the deep south!!
Stopped in here for the first time with a group of people who wanted to experience ‘fish and chips’ could not fault the service or the meals provided. Nice people who took a small group just walking in and ordering with patience and a smile. I personally had blue cod and chips and could not fault it
The man working here is very professional and got my fish and chips fast! Good food and fresh! Will come back!
