HOSTEL - NOT a hotel. No amenities. No WiFi except for in the tiny office area. Paper-thin walls, loud slamming doors on rooms, squeaking springs/hinges, etc. SO LOUD. Decaying shower and toilet rooms. Tiny rooms with no lamps and broken everything. No mattress covers gross; lumpy, weird mattresses and pillows only 1. Windows thin and barely functioning, curtains old and falling apart. Everything pretty unpleasant and cheap and old. IF you are fine with a funky youth hostel, and you can sleep through anything, then cool! If not, pay the extra £50 to stay elsewhere. I don’t know how they get away with being classified as a “2-star hotel”. The small Indian restaurant seems really popular = the only place that anyone is enjoying themselves in this building. Good thing: Hostel staff were nice.
Tiny rooms and bathrooms pretty dirty. The building is old and needs to be renovated. Would not recommend it for a long stay, especially for families. Rather a cheap solution at the heart of London. Staff very kind and excellent location.Rooms: 2/5
The location for this hostel was amazing, it’s near SOHO, which is a great theatre district. Despite the location and access to restaurants and public transit. The actual room was not the greatest. We had just a bunk bed in our hostel room. We did not have heat in our room until we talked to the front desk. The beds themselves were not very comfortable. We booked our hostel through hostel world and the pictures on the site were not what it looked like in person, at all. The rooms were cramped, they did not have bathroom pictures, nor pictures of the washrooms. As well the sink in our room, the hot water sometimes worked. The bathrooms were extremely cramped and really cold, not very clean either. This is a good place to just sleep, and not necessarily shower.
Would've put 0 stars if it was an option, -5 stars. This is a scam. The name of this place should be Hostel Disgusting. Before I even walked in, I knew the bathroom would be horrendous. The only way to your room is through a bunch of stairs. If you want to stay anywhere in this area, DO NOT EVEN LOOK AT THIS HOSTEL. The name of the "Hotel" is also false information. It should be called a Hostel. The hotel looks nothing like any of the pictures that would be found online. Once you walk in, towards the reception, it smells old and musky. I haven't even gone to the bathroom here because I know I'll regret it. NO MATTER WHAT, DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PLACE TO STAY AT. As of now, I've only been in the hostel with my family for 5 hours and the experience is already dreadful. Wifi is only on the floor of the reception. My family and I stayed on the level to use it but we were told to move out for an event. We were left with nowhere to sit in the entrance just to use the Wifi. Wifi is a basic necessity at a "Hotel." They do not even accomodate to those with concerns. Even to just refund one night, they did not allow. They are money hungry, knowing well that the hostel they run is gross. Even if this "Hotel" is your last resort you might as well sleep on the streets. STAY AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Dreadful hotel...hostel! No wifi in rooms, gross toilets and showers, old rooms, STAIRS only to rooms...woe to those with luggage! They refused to give refund inspite of asking for some conaideration bec of non functioning toilet and dreadful stair sitiation! NEVER BOOK here!Rooms: 1/5
I had a hard time carrying my luggage to the 5th floor no lift so they let me keep it in the luggage locker and have access as needed. Many thanks to the staff! Nearby activities: Walking to the Underground every day was a breeze, I saw so much that way. Plus 2 excellent Gallery / Museum and cool landmarks, so close I didn't need to worry about crowds by the time I got there. I was already there. Walkability: Walking to the Royal Opera House took the stress away from my trip. I had tickets for 2 nights to see the Dark Crystal ballet. I chose this hostel because it was close. Food & drinks: Tesco Express very close by. A few pubs and cafes- not too pricey.
DO NOT - I REPEAT!! - Do not stay here!!! The pictures are very deceiving! I’d like to know where they put the new mattresses that they show on the beds. The mattresses that we were presented with and had to make ourselves were clearly old 70’s or older and had never been cleaned so they were stained and broken. Luckily the pillow cases were on the pillows. I made the mistake of looking at the pillow. Don’t! Never been washed, disgusting! The shared showers and toilets are barely functional and leaking. The building is old and clearly not kept up. It is cheap but you definitely get what you pay for. Only good thing, location. But there are far better places that won’t take your money and not even provide a clean bed!
You get what you pay for : Overall I would say we are satisfied with our stay. The stuff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean rooms are small if you’re a big person . The most annoying part was the sensor in the shower that kept turning off the lights every 3 seconds. An easy fix for the owner, so seemed like a negligence. Location is freaking sweet, everything is close by, many busses around and close to a subway station. It is for the people who would like to spend their days outside the room and just crush there overnight.
To begin with, my review is based on its location and cost. It enjoys the ideal location for anyone to travel in Central London. Most of the must-go places, like Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, museums, even major train stations and interchanges are within walking distance. Underground stations, like Temple and Embankment, are just 5-7 minutes walk. The lobby service was great and the room was clean and tidy - at least for my situation as I was in a single room. Shower room and toilet are shared and they are small. Again, with this price, and we are talking about Central London, I was fine with this. Bad side - whenever the security door closes, it makes a very loud noise. The door lock was also confusing as I was not sure how to lock/unlock the door. Walkability: Most attractions are within walking distance and train stations are close.
