Story

We rent Californian classic beach-cruiser bicycles. Our bikes have wide, comfortable seats, swept-back handlebars, and oversized tyres, perfect for a relaxed day of cycling. We're located amongst the vineyards and coastline of beautiful Te Awanga. Simply ride down our driveway and you're on Hawke's Bay's scenic, off-road cycle network. Either follow one of our recommended loops or chose your own way through Te Awanga, Haumoana, Havelock North and beyond. Suitable for couples, small and large groups. No lycra, just cycling the way it was.

Murray and the team are awesome. We picked up our bikes in the morning and enjoyed the loop trail. The bikes are super comfy seat is very cushiony and the basket up front was perfect for my extra things. Good price and value.
Such a fantastic day out. The bikes were awesome, so comfortable and perfect for the coastal routes. Everything was made so easy for us on pick up and maps provided with tips on the best places to visit. Definitely check these guys out!
What an amazing experience we had this company! The 14 year old front man Max knew everything there was to know about Bikes, the area and his customers. He offered detail information for me and my partner as tourists and his service was impeccable. He was the perfect mix of professionalism and charisma. We would highly highly recommend. My group had a similar experience to the three star review from one year ago. Like in the name Coastal Wine Cycles, you would expect to experience a 'Wine' tour. It was clear the management does not have good relationships with the wineries as he wasn't aware if they were open. Before our cycling journey begun he assured us one would be open Te Awanga Estate and another may be open. When we arrived to Te Awanaga Estate we were told by more cyclists that it was closed and they were in confusion like us. After biking for 2 hours and not experiencing any wine tours, we called him just to be told we must have been there minutes before they opened. At this point we were exhausted and over it and returned the bikes. It was disappointing we were not offered any compensation like some $$ back. We were a group of 16 and had spent $800 on bikes specifically for taking a wine tour. The bikes were comfortable to ride but on their own were not worth the price we paid.
Super comfortable bikes, great route, and gorgeous scenery! We followed the map provided hitting all the wineries and had a fantastic day. Tony was amazing - thanks so much! 100% recommend
Really terrific way to spend the day. Gorgeous scenery and an easy ride on the cruiser bikes rode all day and didn't break a sweat. Murray is a great bloke who was helpful and friendly at every step. Would definitely ride with them again
Two wineries out of the four was closed and my bike had a few issues but still had an amazing time! Highly recommend! Charlotte was very friendly and informative!
Friendly owner and top quality bikes, with different styles to fit everybody's preference. The path is easy and flat, just enough effort to feel like you deserved your wine, and possibility to adapt the tour if you want to do more or less.
We were recommended Coastal Wine Cycles by our Airbnb just down the road and had the best day on our bikes. I had one of the gorgeous Cruiser bikes and now want one of my own. Even though the weather turned a little during the day, we still had such a great time. Murray was so great and helpful, making the whole day feel very relaxed, and giving us some great, clear tips and instructions so we made the most of our wine touring. 10/10 would definitely recommend/use again!
Can't recommend this experience enough! Coastal Wine Cycle's beautiful Electra bicycles made cycling easy and comfortable, and we took in so much more of the beautiful Hawke’s Bay's countryside and coastline than we ever would have by car or foot. We chose not to stop so we could see more of the scenery, but can only imagine partaking in some wine or lunch at one of the many pretty vineyards around the area would only add to a great day out. Highly reasonable in price, with friendly, attentive service and local knowledge. Would definitely come back to explore more of the Cape Kidnappers Coast Cycle Trail. Coastal Wine Cycles is in a great location, very close to the coast and the many cycle trails in the area.
