One of the most despicable urgent care experiences I’ve ever had—how does Dr. Carolyn Smale not realize that she is putting actual people’s lives on the line, and that we’re not showing up just to slow her down or waste her time? I am visiting the area on holiday and noticed swelling in my arm a week after arriving. Noticed when searching for urgent care centers that Coast to Coast Wellsford had terrible ratings and specifically travelled farther to Warkworth based on their mostly positive reviews, but accidentally left ID behind. Ended up needing to see Coast to Coast Wellsford for time, but I should have just waited until the next day to get care at Warkworth. Receptionist and nurse were kind but Dr. Carolyn Smale was an absolute abomination. Spoke to me like I was a child, took one quick glance at the swollen area of my arm and—despite me making it clear that I have not injured the area or been bitten by anything, and been on a 14 hour plane ride a week ago—made up a story about how I “must have hit it on [my] suitcase while traveling,” telling me I was fine, turning and walking away. Didn’t leave any room for discussing my family history of clotting issues and heart disease or for asking questions. I have doctors in my family who agree that for a “doctor” to not even consider asking for family history in a situation like this, or doing a simple D-dimer blood test or ultrasound is absolutely abhorrent. Reading other reviews, I noticed many others calling out Dr. Carolyn Smale by name or description based on similar experiences. Which leads me to say—only visit this clinic if you are willing to pay just for Dr. Carolyn Smale to gamble with your life.
Terrible reception at all coast to coast medical centres, so rude, nurses and drs and reception dont care about your childs health, correction, one Dr does but hes never available as everyone wants to see him they put you on a 3 week waiting list for a sick baby! If you do get called up you are expected to drive to either one of Wellsford, Maungaturoto or God forbid Mangawhai clinic which is the worst one service wise get held up even a little and then be told to go away as they no longer have time for you. There is no sympathy for what it takes to get a sick child to the dr with other children in tow within your already rushed schedule. Just making the ph call is hard! They start to change their tune when you do need to go to a&e and ...watch how quickly they change their notes before you go.nHonestly if your baby is sick just go straight to a&e where you will be talked to with dignity, they believe you when you say your baby/child is unwell and treat as necessary. Or Move to somewhere like Russell where the drs walk around barefoot, never turn you away, smile and you are always pleasantly treated at a difficult time. I once went to a new dr elsewhere, with a toddler with a fever of 39.5, they said have you given pamol? I said no as I didn't want her to be better and you send us away, and then her fever goes up again, they were shocked I would think that and when I told them past experiences we had like at these drs they said theyd never treat us like that, they even follow up with a ph call to see how we got on the next day. Nearly dropped the ph when they did that, Unlike the establishment here, these staff need a real wake up call that we arent coming in to purposely waste their time, we have real concerns and have much better things to be doing than being looked down on for asking how to feel better! Get a private family dr elsewhere it will cost more but save your sanity and likely your life.
Rang Coast to Coast 8.30pm for a family member who was suddenly unwell... tried ringing numerous times... the phone just hung up on me... You could have left a message referring us to someone else.. what if it was an appendix problem issue... meaning it was bad but not bad enough to call ambulance? This is appalling
Honestly useless doctors.nMaybe 2 out of all doctors there actually care about your health.nIt’s problem after problem with this place.nStitches up my partners hand with cut tendons and sent him away awhile back, Had to go to hospital 3 days later for surgery as the flesh started rotting. They said it shouldn’t have been ignored and stitched from the start.nnIf anything save yourself and sign up to another doctorsnnI could keep it going too. They are the WORST doctors
Horrible doctors and horrible service. Don’t do there job properly went in with what I thought was a burst appendix they sent me away with Panadol not looking properly, ended up in hospital 2 days later…. DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE DOCTORS OR ANY OF THERE CLINICS
