Beautiful winery! The scenery was stunning with the large trees, vineyard, and fun swings. They do serve food there too not sure how big their menu is. 100% would recommend
We had the most amazing time at Cloudy Bay Winery. Stunning day, gorgeous wine and knowledgeable staff. Would highly recommend a visit if you're in Marlborough
Really disappointed in this place. What a fantastic picture perfect location, if only you had proper trained staff, telling customers you are fully booked and can only serve bread while serving alcohol almost goes against your liquor license. Never once providing water and not accepting cash which is legal tender in New Zealand. So very disappointing at a time where I'm sure any customers would be a blessing.
Only 4 stars as although it was a lot of fun and we bought some fantastic wine, we couldn’t sit outside and enjoy the weather and scenery. Inside only for wine tasting but if you wanted to stay and sit outside with additional purchased glass of wine, you could.
We visited on a beautiful day and did a forgettable tasting then walked the grounds. This is a typical "corporate" and "sanitized" winery experience. Everything routine. Rather cookie-cutter and overpriced for the tiny pours. Upon arrival you are asked if you have a booking, which sets the tone for the experience. The wine was OK. Just OK, by Napa and southern France standards. In California, where I'm from, NZ is cherished as a great $6 or $8 bottle at Trader Joe's, along with similar bargains from South Africa and Argentina. So why would I pay $30 or $40 at the source? Took the joy out of it.
Highly recommend their wine tasting package with snacks, impeccable experience and a surprisingly great value! But not so much for their actually restaurant, which is known for its innovativeness, but it’s really just more visually appealing than tasting good tasted confusingfor my liking.
Turned up on spec on a quiet Friday lunchtime. We were very happily received and had lunch and a tasting. Menu options were a little constrained, but the food was excellent with generous portions. The inexperience of the junior staff was more than offset by the senior staff, who were so slick. The wine tasting was engaging and great value. No sales pressure was applied. Location and the wines were outstanding. Lovely place to spend a couple of hours.
Last stop of my Sperm Donation World tour in Marlborough, and the staff went above and beyond to serve us as it was the end of the day, and I am glad they did great wines and I walked away with a lovely bottle.
We know the brand Cloudy Bay from Germany and were very much looking forward to seeing it in person. It is a very posh place with a reduced service. But of course the scenery and the product quality is very good! We had the classic Sauvignon Blanc as well as a Sparkling Wine - both is fantastic. You can see from the very beginning that they know they are well known and famous, so no one is really interested in creating you a special moment.
Beautiful spot. Great views, delicious wines. Try the baked cheese with proscuitto, apricots and figs. I would have given this five stars if the service were a bit better - maybe the server was having an off day...
